Minimum wage increase is campaign promise it’s OK to break : POLITICO

Republicans will spend the next four months accusing President Barack Obama of breaking his promises to the American people. But not only conservatives are unhappy.

Progressive advocacy groups point out that the president has yet to make good on his promise to raise the federal minimum wage to $9.50 an hour and link it to inflation. A campaign is now under way to press Obama to take action, and Democrats in the House and Senate have introduced bills that would make a nearly $10 minimum hourly wage a reality.

Whether the unrealized wage hike is due to political calculations or a genuine change of heart, the president can rest easy in knowing that this is one campaign promise it’s OK to break.
